The crowds that gather at her campaign rallies show a genuine unity against a rotten political system, Vice President Leni Robredo said on Friday.

Robredo made the apparent swipe at Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s platform of national unity in Bacolod City before a rally which organizers claimed was attended by 70,000.

Robredo's rallies over the past week have been generally well-attended with organizers claiming attendance in the tens of thousands.

The rally in General Trias, Cavite last week prompted Cavite Representative Boying Remulla to claim in a radio interview that a certain politican was paying P500 per person to attend rallies.

The allegation was denied by the Robredo camp.

"59 days to go bago mag-May 9, alam kong ramdam na ninyo ang nararamdaman ko," Robredo said.

Robredo said the people should be united in helping each other out, and it starts with the government having empathy for its people.

Robredo is trailing former Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. in pre-election polls by double digits, but she has said that her campaign was going way better than she expected.

Marcos, Jr.'s campaign message is centered on unity, and his ticket with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte as his running mate is dubbed the UniTeam. —NB, GMA News
