Raps filed vs. 5 cops over killing, disappearance of 2 traders

Multiple complaints have been filed against five policemen over the killing and disappearance of two businessmen, according to Emil Sumangil's report on Unang Balita on Tuesday.

Cases of carnapping, kidnapping and homicide, and kidnapping with serious illegal detention were filed against the five active policemen by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group of the Philippine National Police (PNP-CIDG).

Two of the policemen were members of the PNP Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) in Laguna while the rest were non-commissioned officers.

The two victims, identified as Rodrigo Dueña II and Jaime Faramil, were reported missing on December 29, 2021.  They were involved in the buying and selling of cars, and were about to meet a buy-and-sell agent before they were reported missing.

Dueña was found dead in Tayabas, Quezon, on December 30, 2021 while Faramil remains missing as of today.

Evidence used by investigators were IDs and personal belongings of the two recovered during a raid at the impounding area of PNP-HPG in Laguna in February 2022.

Aside from the five policemen, also named respondents in the complaints were three civilians namely William Dagutdot, allegedly the agent the two victims were supposed to meet; Ranilex Mendoza, who was allegedly working for PNP-HPG; and an unidentified female who was seen on CCTV using the ATM card of one of the victims.

HPG Laguna has yet to comment regarding the incident. —KBK, GMA News
