2 more suspects in Laguna fatal hazing incident surrender to police

Two more suspects have surrendered to authorities after facing complaints over the hazing incident in Kalayaan, Laguna, that killed 18-year-old Raymark "RR" Rabutazo, a report on GMA News’ Unang Balita said Thursday.

According to the report, suspect Kirby Galero said that he wanted to turn himself in earlier but was afraid of the threats he was receiving.

Another suspect, Kevin Perez, also surrendered to the police but refused to give a statement on the accusation that he was the “master initiator” during the hazing.

Two other suspects, Reyvince Espaldon and Venzon Benedict Lacaocao, allegedly officers of Tau Gamma Phi fraternity, earlier underwent inquest proceedings

at the Laguna Prosecutor's Office for homicide and violation of anti-hazing law charges.

Authorities are still looking for other members of the Tau Gamma Phi - Longos Chapter, the group blamed for Rabutazo's death.

Remil Rabutazo, the victim’s father, said at least 23 fraternity members were present at the hazing, some of them their relatives.

Based on the medico legal report, Rabutazo, a Grade 12 student, succumbed to subdural hemorrhage after he was hit by a blunt object on the head during the initiation rites. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
