Some residents around Taal refuse to flee

Some residents in areas around Taal Volcano have refused to evacuate even after the recent phreatomagmatic burst which caused PHIVOLCS to raise Alert Level 3.

According to  GMA Regional TV Southern Tagalog's report on "24 Oras Weekend", some refused to leave because they had animals to watch over.

Fisherfolk, on the other hand, said the explosions in the volcano's activity on Saturday weren't accompanied by earthquakes.

Still, 1,600 residents have fled their homes amid the volcanic activity.

"May halong kaba at takot... may mga mga alaga rin kaming naiwan," one evacuee said. —NB, GMA News
