Authorities seize P600M worth of uncertified products in Cavite warehouse

Authorities seized at least P600 million worth of uncertified products in a warehouse in Kawit, Cavite.

In a joint operation, personnel of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) seized the uncertified products in a warehouse which was being used as a logistics center in Toclong-San Sebastian Road in Kawit, Cavite, according to Mao Dela Cruz’s Super Radyo dzBB report on Wednesday.

During the inspection, the authorities found out that the products have fake Philippine Standard mark and Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) stickers.

Among the seized products are at least 1,600 substandard motorcycle helmets, electrical products, wallpaper, pet items, exhaust fan, water pumps, and bicycles.

More than 700 fake ICC stickers were also discovered in the warehouse.

The warehouse was being used as a dropping point and packaging area for online selling.

According to the BOC, the P600 million worth of uncertified products are subject for seizure procedure.

The Philippine Standard mark and ICC sticker are mandatory markings that certify that products have been tested for safety and performance before being sold.

Meanwhile, the DTI urged consumers to check the Philippine Standard marks and ICC stickers before purchasing products for their own safety. —Richa Noriega/KG, GMA News
