By JOVILAND RITA,GMA News

A finance officer of the Naic Police Station was victimized by phishing where nearly P100,000 of their maintenance and other operating expenses (MOOE) funds have been illegally withdrawn, the Philippine National Police said Wednesday.

At a press briefing, PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said that only P57 was left on the bank account for the police station's MOOE funds.

“Yung ating finance sergeant ng Naic, Cavite naka-receive siya ng email informing her na nagkaroon ng withdrawal sa account na hawak niya na naglalaman ng MOOE noong kanilang station,” she said.

Fajardo added P47,700 were transferred to a Landbank account and another P50,000 to a Unionbank account. Citing the Landback management, Fajardo said it has been confirmed that the account was hacked.

Aside from the account for MOOE funds of the police station, Fajardo said unauthorized withdrawal was also done in the personal account of the finance officer.
