Over 15,000 individuals in Sulu were inoculated against COVID-19 during the recent special vaccination days (SVD) initiative organized by the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao's Ministry of Health (MOH), the local information office reported Sunday.

Data released by the Bangsamoro Information Office showed that there were 15,328 individuals inoculated from May 11 to 13, equivalent to 60.11% of the 25,000 target.

There were 3,341 individuals vaccinated on the first day, 4,988 on the second day, and 7,099 on the third day.

The provincial government earlier implemented a “No Vaccine Card, No Entry Policy,” as the government sought to boost vaccination rates and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the area.

“Our vaccination card is proof that we are protected from the COVID-19 virus. We need that card because it serves as our pass in roaming around here in our hometown and also serves as our passport when we are going to travel around the Philippines and even going abroad,” Governor Abdusakar Tan said in an emailed statement.

“As the SVD ended, we should continue our conduct of regular vaccination in our respective hubs so that we could still meet herd immunity across the region,” MOH Information officer Saida Diocolano-Ali said.

The latest data available from the Department of Health (DOH) indicated that the country had so far recorded a total of 148.237 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines administered as of May 13.

This includes 66.003 million first doses, 68.637 million complete doses, and 13.596 million booster doses. — DVM, GMA News
