Peñafrancia festivities to resume with ‘changes’ in Naga City

The traditional Peñafrancia festivities will resume this year in Naga City, Camarines Sur after a gap of two years due to COVID-19 pandemic.

In a circular released on Wednesday, Archbishop of Caceres Rolando Tirona said the Church authorities will implement “changes” in the conduct of processions to “protect the well-being of devotees, pilgrims, and the public at large."

Tirona said images of Our Lady of Peñafrancia and Divino Rostro will be mounted on vehicles during the Traslacion.

“During the fluvial procession, we will limit the number of devotees who will be allowed on the pagoda,” the archbishop said.

“Kissing and touching the images will not be allowed at all times. Details will be announced in the coming weeks,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Archdiocese of Caceres prepares for the annual festivities of the Divino Rostro on August 31 to September 9 and Our Lady of Peñafrancia on September 9 to 18.

“May the coming celebration of the feasts of the Divino Rostro and Ina open our hearts and minds to the Holy Spirit so we can imitate Mary in our journey towards the Father,” Tirona said.—Richa Noriega/AOL, GMA News
