Cockpit operator shot, suspect arrested in Tanauan, Batangas — police

Police has arrested a 23-year-old man who shot a cockpit operator in Barangay Darasa, Tanauan City, Batangas Wednesday night.

Suspect Federick Octavio was confined at a hospital due to gunshot wounds while victim Mark Colin Reño, 30, was unharmed.

Batangas police said around 8:30 p.m., August 10, the victim was aboard his vehicle when the suspect, who was riding a motorcycle, fired shots at him.

Reño was able to fire back, hitting Octavio on the abdomen. The suspect fled and went to a hospital for treatment.

A caliber .45 used by the suspect was recovered from the area of the shooting incident, according to the police.

In a follow up operation conducted by Tanauan City Police, the suspect was arrested in the hospital after the victim positively identified him. Octavio is still in the hospital for treatment with some police escort.

A complaint for frustrated murder will be filed against the suspect, according to Batangas police.—Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA News
