Cops seize over P25.4 million worth of illegal drugs in Central Visayas


Authorities have seized more than P25.4 million worth of illegal drugs during a two-day regionwide Synchronized Enhanced Managing Police Operations (SEMPO) in Central Visayas.

In a statement, Police Regional 7 director Police Brigadier General Roque Eduardo DP Vega said the operations held from August 13 to 14 served 233 warrants of arrests, resulting in the arrest of 708 individuals.

It also seized 3,738 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P25,420,780.

A total of 130 gambling operations were also conducted, resulting in the arrest of 295 persons and confiscation of bets amounting to P26,781.

Meanwhile, 251 loose firearms and one explosive were also confiscated in 185 operations.

“The regionwide SEMPO aims at reducing crime and strengthening public safety with the support of the community to the mandates of the Philippine National Police,” Vega said.—LDF, GMA News
