By GMA News

The Iloilo provincial government has taken stricter health and safety measures after detecting the country's fourth case of monkeypox in the city.

According to a report on "24 Oras," the Department of Health (DOH) is still investigating if the case is a local transmission.

To avert the spread of the disease, the local government has activated its temporary treatment shelters and monitoring facilities used for COVID-19 and has enforced strict health screening of incoming travelers.

According to city mayor Jerry Treñas, the 25-year-old man infected was a former food handler who has no travel history to countries with monkeypox case.
