Magnitude 5.1 quake strikes off the coast of Davao Occidental

A magnitude 5.1 earthquake hit off the coast of Balut Island, a municipality of Sarangani, Davao Occidental early Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

The quake, which struck at 1:20 a.m., was tectonic in origin with a depth of 11 kilometers.

There are no expected damages after the quake but aftershocks may occur, the agency said. -- BAP, GMA News
