Over 3K residents from Polillo Island receive aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation

Over 3,000 residents from Polillo, Quezon received much-needed aid from the GMA Kapuso Foundation following the onslaught of Super Typhoon Karding.

According to a "24 Oras" report on Monday, many residents are still in need of assistance one week after the typhoon.

Among them is 62-year-old Melinda Acosta, whose house got toppled over by the strong winds and rising waters.

"Malakas po talaga ang bagyo kaya kami ay lumipat, baka po kami maanod," she said. "Nagsalubong po ang dagat atsaka ilog."

Many of the affected are coconut farmers, who are still reeling from the impact of Typhoon Ulysses in 2020.

"Pag nasisira yung mga puno tulad nung nakaraang Ulysses, maraming naghirap. Masakit sa amin gawa ng yun lamang ang aming pinagkakabuhayan ng mga taga dito sa Polillo," said another resident, Gerry Jazul.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation distributed food packs and water to four barangays in Polillo to help them in this difficult time.

Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
