By GMA News

A one-year old boy was killed after his father’s gun went off accidentally at their home in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija.

According to Claire Lacanilao’s report on GMA Regional TV’s One North Central Luzon, the victim’s father—a policeman—had just come from work when he accidentally dropped his firearm.

“Ito ay nangyari doon sa kanilang bahay habang pababa ‘yung pulis, binababa ‘yung gamit niya, including ‘yung firearm. Aksidenteng nalaglag ‘yung baril at naputukan ‘yung bata,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Marlon Cudal, chief of San Jose Police Station.

(This happened at their house while the policeman was putting down his things, including his firearm. The gun accidentally fell and the child was hit.)

The child was declared dead on arrival in the hospital, succumbing to a gunshot wound on his chest.
