Malaysian arrested after receiving package allegedly containing illegal drugs

A package that was declared to contain gym equipment turned out to have illegal drugs worth about P10 million upon inspection at the Clark International Airport. A Malaysian national was arrested, according to the report of Marisol Abdurahman on "Saksi" on Tuesday.

Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested the Malaysian national right after he received the said package.

In a report on "24 Oras" on Wednesday, the suspect said he was only directed to receive the package and did not know about its contents.

The package contained 24 packets of ketamine, a type of illegal drug, with street value of P10 million.

After confirming that the package contained ketamine, officials conducted the controlled delivery to an address in Pasig City.

The Malaysian received the package that led to his arrest.

The PDEA said ketamine is a kind of analgesic that is used as pain killer for large animals. If the substance is abused by humans, it triggers hallucination and is also used as anti-depressant.

The suspect denied he is the true signee of the contraband, saying he received a call directing him to claim the package and deliver the same to an address that would be disclosed in exchange for P20,000.
