PNP orders gun ban in Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Cotabato following Gov. Adiong ambush

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. ordered a gun ban imposed in Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur and Cotabato after an ambush on the convoy of Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Alonto Adiong Jr. occurred on Friday, according to a report on News Live on Saturday.

Adiong's convoy was en route to Wao, Lanao del Sur at 4 p.m. when they were attacked by unidentified gunmen in Kalilangan, Bukidnon. Three of the governor's security detail were killed along with the driver. Adiong and a staff were injured.

the ambush, saying it was "an attack against us, the people of Lanao del Sur and a travesty on our morals."

Lanao del Sur, 1st District Representative Zia Alonto Adiong, brother of the governor, on Saturday said they were not aware of any death threat against him.

The family has no feud or "rido" with other clans, he added.

Meanwhile, the PNP has already formed a special investigation task group to focus on the investigation into the incident. —KG, GMA Integrated News
