Magnitude 5.3 quake jolts Davao Occidental

A magnitude 5.3 earthquake occurred off Sarangani Island, Davao Occidental early Thursday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

The quake that occurred at 5:25 a.m. with a depth of 13 kilometers was tectonic in origin.

No damage is expected but aftershocks may occur, the agency also reported. -- BAP, GMA Integrated News
