The number of tourists that arrived in Boracay on Maundy Thursday alone hit 18,000, according to the local police on Sunday.
In a Super Radyo dzBB interview, Malay, Aklan Police chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Don de Dios said that despite the hotel occupancy in the island reaching around 80-90%, the situation there is still generally peaceful.
“According sa ating tourism dito, it’s around 80-90% ang occupancy natin dito. Then most of the hotels na nandito ‘yung malalaki, fully booked lahat. Kaya medyo makapal ang tao natin,” he said.
