Magnitude 5.4 quake jolts Davao Occidental
A magnitude 5.4 earthquake hit Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental on Wednesday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
The earthquake, which was tectonic in origin, occurred at 10:02 a.m.
It was recorded at 05.80°N, 126.55°E - 101 km S 83° E of Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental.
The quake also had a depth of 90 kilometers.
PHIVOLCS reported the following instrumental intensities:
Intensity II - Malungon, Sarangani
Intensity I - Davao City, Davao del Sur; Nabunturan, Davao de Oro; Kiamba, Alabel, and Glan in Sarangani; and General Santos City, Tupi, and Koronadal City in South Cotabato
There are no expected damages, but aftershocks may occur following the earthquake, according to PHIVOLCS. —Giselle Ombay/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
