P2.8 billion in Egay property damage reported in Region 1

During Saturday's post-typhoon situation briefing in Ilocos Norte with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., total Region 1 infrastructure damage due to Typhoon Egay was estimated at P2.8 billion.

About P2,845,660,900 in infrastructure damage was reported in Ilocos Norte, with about P1.7 billion worth of total damage noted across all municipalities in the province.

Damage to DPWH infrastructures alone was worth P1.017 billion.

Agricultural damage in the province was estimated at P361,039,106.

“We’re also hoping for additional livestock assistance from the Bureau of Animal Industry,” said Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Marcos.

In La Union, P37,312,222 in agricultural damage was recorded in 268 affected barangays, while infrastructure damage was estimated at P295,000.

“With more reports coming in, mukhang lalaki pa po ang infrastructure estimates natin,” said La Union Governor Raphaelle Ortega-David.

Meanwhile, Pangasinan reported P32.9 million in infrastructure damage, with P13.5 million in damaged recorded in Umingan and San Manuel towns.

Pangasinan also reported P67,370,781 in agricultural damage and P1,180,000 in livestock damage.

President Marcos, along with Senator Imee Marcos, were present during the briefing to oversee possible national government assistance to the affected provinces. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
