Kanlaon Volcano rocked by 12 earthquakes

Twelve volcanic earthquakes, including five tremors, were recorded at Kanlaon Volcano, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said Tuesday.
Kanlaon Volcano also had five ash emission events that lasted 8 to 56 minutes long.
The restive volcano in Negros Island also released 3,733 tonnes of sulfur dioxide gas and a moderate 300-meter tall plume that drifted west.
Its edifice also remained inflated.
Alert Level 3 is currently raised over Kanlaon Volcano, signaling a magmatic unrest following its eruption on December 9, 2024.
PHIVOLCS has since then recommended evacuation of residents from the six-kilometer radius around the volcano’s summit.
Possible hazards that may occur include sudden explosive eruption, lava flow or effusion, ashfall, pyroclastic density current, rockfall, and lahars during heavy rains. —Giselle Ombay/AOL, GMA Integrated News
