President Benigno Aquino III's net worth has steadily risen from the time he entered politics as a congressman who represented the second district of Tarlac from 1998 to 2007, during the three years when he was a senator from 2007 to 2010, and during his stint as President that started in 2010.

A steep increase in his net worth was registered during his first year as President in his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth for 2011. Aquino got richer by some P10 million in 2011, based on the Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth he submitted in April 2012.

Aquino earlier attributed his higher net worth to the inheritance he and his sisters received.

“There is an increase and the increase primarily is because of the inheritance that I got from both my father and my mother which were finalized in 2011,” the President said, referring to the house on Times Street, Quezon City owned by his parents — the late Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. and the late President Corazon Aquino.

The only time Aquino's wealth dipped, albeit quite slightly, was when he declared his net worth for 2012 at P65,128,604, just about P2,000 lower than the figure he declared for 2011.

Based on the SALN he filed in April, the value of Aquino’s assets grew further to P68,311,644 for 2014.He declared no liability.

The growth in Aquino’s wealth primarily came from an increase in his cash on hand and in banks which added up to P30,088,988 for the year 2014. He declared cash amounting to P28,778,920 for this particular item in the SALN for the year 2013.

He also declared in his SALN a piece of residential land in Antipolo City worth P507,393. He said he inherited the property in 2014.
