Ester-enhanced Habagat rain floods several Metro Manila areas

Several areas in the National Capital Region (NCR) experienced flooding due to rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon enhanced by Tropical Depression Ester, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said Saturday.

The MMDA reported that as of 12:42 p.m., both directions of the Aurora Tunnel section of EDSA had gutter-deep floods, though the section was still passable to light vehicles.

 

 

Both directions of the C5 Ortigas Service Road also had gutter-deep floods as of 12:44 p.m. But the section was also still passable to light vehicles.

 

 

The northbound lanes of EDSA Madison had gutter-deep floods as of 12:49 p.m. and were still passable to light vehicles.

As of 1:18 p.m., the northbound lanes of C5 Eagle Ave had knee-deep floods and were not passable to light vehicles.

 

 

EDSA northbound just before Shaw Boulevard also experienced flooding, according to Super Radyo dzBB's Mao dela Cruz.

PAGASA earlier reported that the Southwest Monsoon, enhanced by Tropical Depression Ester and Tropical Storm “Songda” (which is outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility), was expected to bring light to moderate with at times heavy rain over several provinces in the western sections of Central and southern Luzon, including Metro Manila, and the Visayas. — DVM, GMA News
