Macron says Charles III visit could come early summer

BRUSSELS, Belgium - French President Emmanuel Macron said Friday that a postponed state visit by Britain's King Charles III could be rearranged for early summer.

Charles had been due to make his first foreign visit as king next week to France, but the trip was delayed amid protests against Macron's pensions reforms.

"We have suggested that, at the beginning of the summer, depending on our respective agendas, we could together schedule a new state visit," Macron said.

Speaking to reporters after an EU summit in Brussels, Macron said it would not have reflected "common sense and friendship" to "propose a visit in the middle of the demonstrations". — Agence France-Presse
