Back to the rockin' '80s

The 1980s made a lasting impact in the world of music, movies and even politics.

Tumabo rin sa takilya ang mga pelikula na E.T., Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi at Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

On the political front, it was in the ‘80s when the Philippines gave the world the gift of People Power, a peaceful revolution that many countries admired and emulated.

When Perry left the band, guitarist Neal Schon discovered Pinoy sensation Arnel Pineda via Youtube. Schon saw one of his performances and was impressed that Arnel’s voice is a carbon copy of Perry’s style.

And as the saying goes, the rest is history and Pineda became the newest lead vocalist of one of the world’s most iconic band.

Here’s Faithfully by the Journey:

"We built this city on rock an’ roll."

Lyrics pa lang, feel mo na ang rock and roll vibes ng dekada otsenta at ang kanta ng Starship na We Built This City. Umarangkada ito sa US Billboard Hot 100 at nakakuha ng nomination sa Grammy Awards for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

This is how the ‘80s helped build rock and roll:

Iniwan man sila ni Dan Peek, hindi nawala ang magic of their charisma at lalo pa silang sumikat with the song written by Russ Ballard na You Can Do Magic in 1982.

Babies of the '80s and those whose hearts belong to that decade, here's your '80s Rock playlist.
