Kapuso Soul Balladeer Garrett Bolden adds another feather to his cap after bagging the People's Choice Award for Favorite New Male Artist from 33rd Awit Awards. Back in January, Garrett was also recognized as New Male Recording Artist of the Year at the 11th PMPC Star Awards for Music.

During his one-on-one interview with Papa Obet on Barangay LS Online, Garrett said that it feels surreal being recognized since he is still a newbie in the music industry.

“Sobrang overwhelmed sa nakuhang recognition, kasi bilang baguhan po sa music industry, it’s very seldom for us to get a chance to be recognized ng ganun kaaga.

“Sobrang appreciated ko po, kasi ‘yung award na nakuha ko po, ang laking tulong ng mga supporters, mga fans. So ayun po, sobrang thankful po ako sa kanila.”

The Kapuso Soul Balladeer also shared with DJ Obet that he has been writing songs, while at home during this pandemic.

He told Barangay LS Online, “So far I’ve been writing songs, alam mo ‘yun mga kanta na hindi ko siguro siya ma-release or something, pero natutunan ko magsulat. Like from time-to-time nagsusulat ako, I also do mga livestream para sa mga fans and mga friends din.

“And since walang mga events ngayon, pero so far we are blessed to be back sa All-Out Sundays, although before tinry namin ‘yung Stay Home party. Ngayon, we were able to go back sa stage mismo, sa studio.”

Garrett also recounted the moment when he finally got back on stage on All-Out Sundays after several months. He admitted that he had to adjust to the new normal of performing  with no audience.

The show had to impose strict safety protocols to protect everyone in the show from the highly-contagious coronavirus.

“Siyempre napansin ko na it’s really different from what we were doing before, pero nandoon pa rin naman like when we step on the stage nandoon pa rin ‘yung spirit, kasi nasabik kami mag-perform sa stage.

“Although, nakakapanibago siya, kasi parang sa tagal din ilang months din na nasa bahay ka lang and finally you are able to step on the stage, medyo nakakapanibago, pero nakaka-adjust naman.”
