EXCLUSIVE: Jessica Villarubin bravely explores music career via "Beautiful"
Power Diva Jessica Villarubin ventures into a new genre early in her singing career.
Jessica Villarubin isn’t afraid to explore her potentials in showbiz, leading her to venture into a pop song for her sophomore release, “Beautiful.”
Jessica emerged as the season 3 grand champion in The Clash. Her strong performances in the Kapuso reality talent competition earned her the title Power Diva and she continues to live up to this through her impressive vocal belting.
This is very evident in her victory song and debut single, “Ako Naman.”
However, for her sophomore single, Jessica digressed from her comfort zone and instead did a pop song.
The Power Diva released “Beautiful” on her birthday, and she is embracing the challenge and new experience that came with performing this.
She said in an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, “’Yung first single ko po na 'Ako Naman' masasabi ko na it’s really my genre na ballad. Yung 'Beautiful,' it’s quite challenging for me kasi, its an upbeat song. Ibang side ni Jessica ang maririning nila sa song na ‘to. I want to show that Jessica is not just a biritera but can also give us a dance tune with a very ‘now’ sound.
“Medyo challenging nga ‘yung 'Beautiful' compared sa 'Ako Naman,' kasi ibang iba nga po siya sa genre ko, pero masaya po 'yung naging experience ko. Gusto ko din talaga mag-explore pa sa singing career ko, mag-try ng ibang genre para malaman ko kung hanggang saan pa ang kaya kung gawin.”
Just like how she feels empowered because of her new single, Jessica also wishes that “Beautiful” will be a source of encouragement and hope for its listeners. Not only did the song help her to be brave and bold, it inspired self-love and self-worth as well.
“I dedicate this song sa mga taong hindi confident sa sarili nila, kasi ‘yung iba nahihiya, natatakot, at lalong-lalo na ‘yung mga taong naka-experience ng bullying kagaya ko.
“I hope this song will really inspire and uplift you to be brave, to get out of your shell and be the best version of yourself with lyrics that say ‘let your heart light up that spark, and show the world who you truly are.’”
Jessica is slated to release a music video for “Beautiful” which also features Kapuso actor Yasser Marta.
