Residents in Barangay Candulawan, City of Talisay in the Province of Cebu, were able to save hundreds of pesos after they availed of free dental services during a caravan of government services.

For example, Luisa Mier said she tagged her grandchild, Kate, along as the eight-year-old child has complained of persistent toothache. She said she could not afford the dental services of a private clinic.

It was learned that extraction service is between P500 to P1,000 depending on the condition of the tooth.

Luisa is thankful that a caravan of government services has reached their barangay.

The caravan of government services is set every Thursday of the month, from February 2024 to July 2024, in all of the city’s 22 barangays.

Free services are related to legal concerns, social welfare, medical consultation, veterinary and dental services, as well as wellness services.

On February 8, 2024, the free services were carried out in Barangay Candulawan where residents availed of tooth extraction, medical check-up, reading eyeglasses, medicines and vitamins; neuter and spay as well as vaccination for pets; free seedlings and livelihood training.

Personnel of the Philippine Statistics Authority also catered to persons seeking late registration and request for additional documents.

Residents also availed of free massage, haircut, facial, manicure and pedicure.

The initiative is carried out by the Local Government Unit through its departments, and the Association of Barangay Council through its president, Councilwoman Josefina Concial.
