Pet owner Beverly Zamora availed of free services from the Anti-Rabies Vaccination Team of the Bacolod City Veterinary Office that facilitated a house-to-house vaccination program in Purok Eastside, Barangay Tangub.

Aside from free shots, it was the first time for her pet dog to get an anti-rabies vaccine.

The Local Government Unit of Bacolod City aims to vaccinate over 70 dogs reportedly in the area to achieve herd immunity against rabies.

Over 10,000 stray dogs of around 100,000 dogs logged in the City Veterinary Office are found in communities with informal settlers.

Supply of anti-rabies vaccines is found to be sufficient; what is lacking is the strong support of residents in informal settlements to achieve heard immunity, this according to the city veterinary.

The vaccination was facilitated weeks to April 28th celebrated as World Pets Day.
