Rice sold at P20 a kilo is made possible.

Rice sold at P20 a kilo with canned goods, noodles, sardines, and other food items to go makes the possible remarkable.

A kilo of rice at P20 and the said items in a food pack are being sold at Parish Caritas of the Saint Therese National Archdiocesan Shrine in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

According to Fr. Joseph de Aquino, Parish Caritas in-charge, offering received from churchgoers has come to fund the purchase of rice.

Anonymous churchgoers do drop by to share their blessing to the parish for the P20-food pack program.

De Aquino said that though items are donated, the minimal P20 being collected would help sustain the purchase of food supplies for the rice pack.

Given priority are the needy ones identified by leaders of chapels in the said barangay.

But people who have neither a centavo to spare will still receive the items at the Caritas Store.

Volunteer students render hours to prepare the rice packs. In return for services they get pocket allowance.

Further, Parish Caritas offers cash-in and cash-out services for electronic wallets, free of charge.

These are just among the activities of Saint Therese National Archdiocesan Shrine that uphold and spread kindness which are also possible in more communities if they too believe it can be done and can be done right.
