Residents of Barangay Longos in Calasiao, Pangasinan are considering a signature campaign to voice their sentiments over water supply issues.

The supply in the barangay is reportedly weak and the water is reportedly sandy.

“Ang gusto namin [ay] asikasuhin nila ang tubig para lahat ng tao may magagamit na tubig,” Magdalena Agbuya, a resident, said.

Some residents said they have to wake up early to store water because taps run dry from morning until evening.

“Kapag umaga, kapag hindi kami nag-ipon, wala… kaya nag-iipon at nag-iimbak kami,” Leticia Agbuya, a consumer, said.

Tes, another resident, said she only consumed three cubic meters of water in April 2024 because of the weak water supply. The minimum consumption is P330.

“Sana huwag tanggap nang tanggap [ng bagong consumers] kung hindi naman kaya masuplayan lahat ng tubig. Lalo ngayon two to three cubic meters lang ang nagagamit,” Tes said.

The Calasiao Water Company Inc., which is responsible for supplying water in the area, said the water facility was affected by a lightning strike. However, they have proposed a project to improve the water supply in barangays.

“Mayroon kaming project na naka-propose this year (2024) that will connect ‘yung isang facility, kung saan sila kumukuha, to another facility para magkaroon ng augmentation at reliability,” Allan Aquino, Operations Manager of Calasiao Water Company, Inc., said.
