Of over 20 persons found positive of typhoid fever, only three have remained confined at the infirmary of Barili town, Cebu, as of posting time.

The rest of the patients have already recuperated and were discharged from the infirmary.

From January 20, 2025 to January 31, 2025, the number of patients in Barangay Gunting stricken by typhoid fever reached 27. 

Barangay Gunting Chairman Crisiolo Superales, Jr. confirmed that a number of residents suffered from high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach pains.

Superales himself was one of those who suffered from the symptoms.

The Barili Primary Care Facility’s investigation into the incident is ongoing, as of posting time, as to the cause of contamination, such as water sources.

Residents of Barangay Gunting, as well as neighboring barangays, are urged to boil water continuously for drinking and cooking purposes, and to clean up their surroundings regularly.
