A house in Piddig, Ilocos Norte was destroyed by fire after an elderly woman burned trash near her home.

According to the barangay chairman, strong winds and high temperatures caused the flames to spread quickly, igniting piles of garbage stored inside the house.

Firefighters responded immediately and managed to put the fire out but no belongings were salvaged.

The elderly resident, who was outside the house when the fire broke out, was unharmed.
