Construction is underway for a wider and concrete road in Barangay Salaan, Mangaldan, to improve access to the town’s business center and ease traffic congestion.
For years, motorists and residents have struggled with the bumpy, rocky, and dusty road.
This caused residents like Remy Cacal to pour water on the road regularly to control the dust.
“Dito kasi talaga ang daanan ng mga sasakyan kaya kawawa sila lalo na kapag yung bato-bato ang daan,” Cacal said.
The road serves as a shortcut for motorists looking to avoid heavy traffic in Barangay Salay, making its repair a major relief for travelers.
“Accessible na daan kasi namin ‘yan papunta sa bayan. Kapag dito kami dumaan sa isang side, kasi matagal talaga,” Leah Embuido, a barangay councilwoman, said.
Once completed, the road will allow two-way traffic in Salaan, but some parts in Salay will remain one-way due to space limitations.
The national government funded the project with over P4 million, and it is expected to be completed before the rainy season.
During construction, motorists are advised to take the Salaan-Salay Road as a temporary route.
