Following complaints from residents, the local government of Mangaldan is now reminding barangay officials to issue official receipts every time they collect garbage fees.
The city has called a meeting with barangay officials from Anolid, Banaoaang, Bantayan, Embarcadero, Guilig, Malabago, and Poblacion.
The purpose was to address complaints that some garbage fee collectors were not issuing receipts.
Andito kami para i-remind sila,” Municipal Treasurer Marilou Gavino said.
Barangay Anolid’s chairwoman admitted that receipts were not always given in the past.
Honsayco added that this had been the common practice. She also noted that some residents refused to accept receipts previously.
However, after the reminder from the LGU, Barangay Anolid has changed its process.
Other barangays present during the meeting also assured the LGU that they will follow the directive and make sure every payment comes with an official receipt.
