Residents and small business owners in Barangay Anolid, Mangaldan, Pangasinan endured nearly a full day without water supply after a backhoe accidentally damaged the main line of the Mangaldan Water District (MAWAD) on Monday, October 27, 2025.
For Alberto Urbano, a business owner, the outage made it difficult to operate his canteen. He fetched water from a nearby well to keep his business running.
“Mahirap walang tubig pero ang ginawa ko, doon sa poso na ako umigib,” he said.
The lack of water also disrupted household routines. Virginia Molina, a resident, said she had to postpone her laundry.
“Mahirap sa experience namin, mahirap talaga walang tubig. ‘Yun lang talaga, hindi kami nakapaglaba,” she said.
According to MAWAD, over 300 households were affected by the water interruption. Although the main line was repaired before noon, the agency continued receiving complaints throughout the day.
Demmee Carbonel, MAWAD spokesperson, said their team conducted another inspection and discovered blockages in the main line.
“May mga nareceived pa rin kaming reklamo. Nakita namin may mga bumara na pala doon sa main line,” Carbonel said.
MAWAD completed repairs and restored water supply to the area around 9 p.m. on the same day. The agency assured residents that the water source has been flushed and is now safe for use.
