When you love someone, you shout it to the world. This is exactly what a groom in Batangas did when he said his “I do” loudly, which elicited laughter from attendees and a humorous remark from the officiating priest.

Fr. Romy Barrion, the priest who officiated the wedding, in jest.

The groom, Miguel Antonio Herta, explained:

Aside from his roaring “I do,” Miguel elicited another playful remark from the priest when it was time to kiss his bride, Alelie Jessa.

"Huwag mong sakalin... Hawake [Hawakan] ng ayos. Ba'y ga [Bakit ga] sa leeg mo hinahawakan? Wala pa akong sinasabi," Barrion told the groom.

This filled the church with laughter, turning the wedding into a joyous occasion for everyone present.

"Ako pa naman, eh, iyak na dahil nga bilang ate niya, ako 'yung naghatid sa kasal niya, pero nu' ng mag-misa na si Father, eh, tawa na kami ng tawa kasi si Father nga, eh, kwela," Marisol Ermino, the sister of the bride, said.

PERSONAL CHOICE

The couple chose Barrion purposely to officiate their wedding because of his entertaining sermons.

A video of the wedding, which was streamed on social media, went viral quickly, earning thousands of likes and shares.

PLEASED

Barrion was pleased with the positive reactions and took the opportunity to ask for help for his parish.

"Siyempre masaya [ako] at higit sa lahat ay I was able to connect to the people in sending the message of Jesus. The mass itself is the celebration of the people at kapag kasama si Hesus ito'y laging maligaya at masaya," he said.

He said their church in Lemery, Batangas was damaged during the Taal eruption.

"Until today ay under construction pa [ang parokya], so I'm appealing to these generous viewers… kung magbibigay ng tigpi-piso itong viewers na ito ay mapapatapos namin ang simbahan [dito] sa Parokya ng San Roque sa bayan ng Lemery," he said.
