Just three days before Valentine’s Day, Bea Alonzo and Dominic Roque have finally broken their silence through a collaboration post on Instagram - confirming that they have indeed mutually decided to end their relationship.
By making it official, Bea and Dominic are putting an end to all the circulating rumors regarding their relationship’s real score.
“After much thought, consideration, and care, we have mutually decided to amicably end our engagement,” the post said, thumbnailed by their selfie picture foregrounding a church’s facade.
It seems as though the two were prompted to clear the air, once and for all, after their engagement status made the rounds online and became a trending guessing game.
“We wanted to have more time to carefully deliberate and pray about it, but there have been many speculations, questions, and insults,” they clarified.
The ex-couple also expressed their dismay over many false narratives that came to surface, particularly over certain confirmations that, according to Bea and Dominic, were publicized non-consensually.
“Unfortunately, some even confirmed our break-up even without our consent, and some created ridiculous stories that had no basis and were utterly false,” they explained, “so we felt the need to share this announcement with great sadness, and for our peace of mind and our families.”
Bea and Dominic concluded the statement with a gentle request for kindness and understanding from the public, mentioning that it has been an “extremely painful yet united decision.”
“We sincerely request for everyone to kindly spare us from more cruel and hurtful words thrown on social media,” according to the post. They also sought privacy as they “navigate our future lives with respect, kindness, compassion, and dignity.”
Notably, the statement comes five days after talk show host Boy Abunda confirmed on live television Bea and Dominic’s breakup, and suggested the possibility that the two were in talking terms in an attempt to understand the situation.
“As a matter of fact, from good sources, kagabi o noong isang gabi lamang, nag-usap muli si Dominic at Bea... they are trying to understand each other,” the veteran showbiz host said on the February 5, 2024 episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.”
Speculations spread like wildfire online when netizens noticed their absence in each other’s social media posts, as well as Bea’s missing engagement ring in one of her photos on Instagram.
Showbiz personality Ogie Diaz fanned the flame when he released an update on the issue in his Youtube vlog dated February 3.
Three days earlier, Dominic turned to Facebook and called his ex-lover “a beautiful person inside and out,” while sharing a throwback reel from 2022 dated October 21. The caption also included an appeal for kindness from the public.
“No hate/bashing/negative things please..” Dominic wrote.
Bea Alonzo and Dominic Roque officially became a couple in January 2021. They announced their now-defunct wedding engagement last July 19, 2023 through a carousel of photos uploaded by the former on Facebook.
“I didn’t want that moment to end. I want this real thing to happen forever.. And right then there.. In front of the people we love.. we decided on forever,” said Bea in the caption.
Bea and Dominic's relationship lasted for three years, officially becoming a couple in January 2021.
