After walking for 139 days, Jay and Mira Abrara reached Naga City in Camarines Sur, achieving 2,000 of their 5,000- kilometer target, the scorching heat notwithstanding.

The motivation: To send a message of inspiration that walking through a challenge together can strengthen a marriage.

“Ang walk for a cause namin is [for] strengthening marriage o pagtibayin ang pasgsasama ng mag-asawa. So lagi naming binabahagi po na hindi po solusyon yung hiwalay[an] pag nagkaroon ng problema ang mag-asawa. So, the more na marami kayong pagsubok [na] mag-asawa, mas mahalin nyo [ang] isa’t-isa para gumaan,” Mira said.

They started walking on December 6, 2023 in Batangas City. Their ultimate target is to reach General Santos City in Mindanao.

“Batangas City, yun yung zero-kilometer namin. So inuna po namin yung Norte, [ngayon] pababa kami down to Matnog… matatapos na kami sa Luzon,” Jay said.

They carry with them all their necessities in their go-kart, including water, cooking equipment, clothes, and more. They find shelter in barangay halls or police stations along their route.

Jay and Mira Abrara are a married couple from Batangas City. They started this journey to prove that difficulties are just in the mind.
