A total of 51 tricycles or ‘garong,’ adorned with various fruits and vegetables, were displayed in a parade in Laoag City as part of the 2024 Agriculture & Fishery Sector Day celebrations.
The tricycles or ‘garong’ are used commonly for transporting animals and goods.
Some were designed to resemble traditional bahay-kubo houses, while coastal barangays showcased floats featuring large fish.
Awards were given for the best float and best community garden.
“We will be awarding the best float, at the same time the best hapag or the best community garden in the rural and urban barangays, and even in the school[s],” Sheila Marie Opelac, Laoag City Agriculturist, said.
