The 72nd FAMAS Awards, organized by the prestigious Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS), took place on May 26, 2024 at the Manila Hotel, where the best and the brightest artists and films in Philippine cinema were once again recognized.

AT A GLANCE
Historical horror movie Mallari headlined the awards night, winning Best Picture, Best Screenplay, and four more from a total of 14 major nominations, the most nods in this year’s FAMAS.

Kathryn Bernardo won her first FAMAS Best Actress prize for her performance in the Petersen Vargas-directed black comedy thriller, A Very Good Girl. Kathryn will be pairing with Alden Richards in November for the upcoming sequel of their 2019 mega-hit movie, Hello, Love, Goodbye.

The FAMAS Best Actor award was awarded to two equally deserving recipients, shared by Piolo Pascual for Mallari, and Alfred Vargas for Pieta. The latter is a heavy suspense-drama film featuring Vargas and National Artist for Film and Broadcast Nora Aunor.

Kapuso Primetime King and Queen Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera won the inaugural Bida ng Takilya Award for their record-breaking box-office hit Rewind, currently the highest grossing Filipino film of all time after surpassing Hello, Love, Goodbye in January 2024.

Multi-awarded Kapuso child star Euwenn Mikaell adds yet another trophy to his young but growing collection of accolades after being named Best Child Actor for Firefly, an award-winning MMFF 2023 entry produced by GMA Pictures.
