The 2024 National Teachers' Month kicked off with great success in Candon City, Ilocos Sur, bringing together educators from across the country to celebrate and recognize their contributions.
Attended by staff from Schools Division Offices and teachers from 17 regions nationwide, the program featured a variety of activities highlighting the role of educators.
"Napakasaya po dahil first time namin dito sa Candon City. And thankful po kami to celebrate National Teachers’ Month dito," Ben John Caballero, a master teacher from Lanao del Norte, said.
The event included colorful performances by students and teachers, and special recognition was given to educators who made exceptional contributions to their schools.
The awards honored teachers who demonstrated excellence and dedication in their work.
"We have selected four outstanding teachers to receive our recognition. Naniniwala kami na nararapat lang sa kanila ang pagkilala," Dyan Tee, Assistant Executive Director of Metrobank Foundation, said.
The program aimed to acknowledge and celebrate the vital role of teachers in shaping the future of the nation.
"Patuloy ang mga programa ng DepEd (Department of Education) para sa mga kaguruan para mas mapabuti pa ang paghahatid nila ng edukasyon," Dr. Tolentino Aquino, Director of DepEd-1, said.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara also extended a message of gratitude to all attendees.
The National Teachers’ Month is an annual celebration dedicated to raising awareness about education issues and honoring teachers across the country.
