In a groundbreaking development, the Philippines has introduced its first self-driving bus service, now available for public use in New Clark City, offering a glimpse into the future of transportation.
The launch of this innovative service was led by the Japan-based mobility firm Zenmov, Inc. and MC Metro Transport Operation.
The self-driving buses are powered by the Smart Mobility Operation Cloud (SMOC), a cutting-edge transportation system.
The event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a demonstration of the energy-efficient, smart public transportation system.
This new service, known as the Primary Rapid Transit, will operate on select routes within New Clark City, Clark Freeport Zone, and Clark International Airport.
According to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), this advanced technology aims to reduce traffic congestion, ease travel, and promote a green, low-carbon environment within Clark.
The initial rollout includes 17 self-driving buses, which will be offered for free to commuters until July 2025.
