Two GMA Regional TV events in La Castellana, Negros Occidental slated on December 13 and December 14, 2024 have been postponed in light of the recent eruption of Mt. Kanlaon.

A Kapuso Artist Participation on December 13 that was supposed to feature Buboy Villar, Pekto, and Shan Vesagas, as well as a Kapuso Fiesta scheduled on the 14th, have both been cancelled.

The announcement was made via the social media pages of GMA Regional TV, GMA Network’s regional arm.

This, after Mount Kanlaon, an active volcano on the island of Negros, reportedly had an “explosive eruption” on Monday afternoon that prompted the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) to raise the situation to Alert Level 3.

According to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) via a GMA News report, almost 87,000 have been evacuated across different evacuation centers in 11 barangays in Negros Occidental, while an estimated 40,000 residents, said a report by Eleanor Valeros of GMA Regional TV News, have yet to be moved to safer locations.
