Over 50,000 people trooped to the streets of Baguio City to witness the parade that kicked off Panagbenga Festival 2025.

The event began with an “Uggayam” ritual, a traditional prayer marking the start of the festivities.

This was followed by the Grand Opening Parade where crowds lined Session Road and Harrison Road to witness the lively performances.

Five schools showcased their drum and lyre performances and street dancing routines at the Melvin Jones Football Ground, dazzling spectators with colorful costumes and energetic choreography.

“Masaya, unang beses ko ito makita,” Cristy De Guzman, a first-time visitor, said.

“Maganda ang mga drum and lyre, makulay ang damit nila, masaya po,” Michaela Bustarde, another tourist, added.

The Baguio Flower Festival Foundation Inc. (BFFFI) thanked the public for their overwhelming support.

“Gusto natin festive talaga ang first day para maengganyo ang mga tourist natin sa selebrasyon,” BFFFI spokesperson Andrew Pinero said.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong highlighted the festival’s theme, “Blossoms Beyond Boundaries.”

“Our festival is a celebration of how our people, our city traditions continue to grow beyond challenges,” he said.

With a month-long lineup of activities, Panagbenga 2025 promises to bring more excitement and showcase the beauty of Baguio’s culture.

The Grand Street Dance Parade is set on February 22, while its Grand Float Parade is set on February 23.
