The number of devotees who joined the Traslacion for the Black Nazarene in Cagayan de Oro City has dropped in 2024, according to the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO).

COCPO spokesperson, Major Evan Viñas, said around 18,000 devotees joined the procession, fewer than the 120,000 estimated attendance in 2023.

Authorities said the Traslacion was 'generally peaceful' with no significant untoward incident reported.

The procession started at 5 a.m. and lasted for about two hours and 15 minutes.

Devotees walked with the image of the Black Nazarene for approximately 2.6 kilometers from the St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral to Fernandez Street, A. Velez Street, CM Recto Avenue, and to the Nazareno Church.

A day before the Traslacion, the image of the Black Nazarene was transferred to the St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral from the Nazareno Church.
