The Senate Sergeant-at-Arms served the arrest warrant against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy in Davao City on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
Quiboloy’s supporters who wore shirts with markings “Justice for Pastor Apollo Quiboloy” gathered at the compound of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) when the arrest order was implemented by the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms together with the officials of the National Bureau of Investigation-Davao (NBI-11) and Police Regional Office-Davao (PRO-11).
However, the KOJC founder was not around when the warrant was served. Quiboloy was also not at his prayer mountain in Barangay Tamayong and at his property in Samal Island.
The arrest warrant was received by Quiboloy’s lawyer, Atty. Israelito Torreon.
The Senate cited Quiboloy in contempt for not showing up during the Senate committee hearing on the child and sexual abuse complaints against him.
PRO-11 Director, Brigadier General Alden Delvo, said determining the whereabouts of Quiboloy remains a challenge to authorities.
"That’s one of the reasons kung marami kang kaibigan at marami kang logistics medyo mahirap kang hulihin... the long arms of the law will definitely catch up with him,” Delvo said.
No monetary reward was offered yet for anyone who can provide information on the controversial pastor but the police warned those who may be hiding Quiboloy that they, too, can be arrested.
“Wala. With this kind of cases. The government has not issued a reward and i don’t think there is a reward for this,” Delvo added.
Authorities are also reviewing if Quiboloy’s case could be used as ground to revoke his license to possess firearms. Despite him having guns, Quiboloy is not considered ‘armed and dangerous’ just yet.
“Meron lang siyang armas... wala namang history... di ko pa masabi na armed and dangerous siya,” Delvo said.
The Regional Trial Court has also issued an arrest warrant against Quiboloy and five others for alleged violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
