The Ministry of Social Services and Development-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MSSD-BARMM) has condemned the killing of its worker and the wounding of another in Barangay Semba, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.

In a statement, the MSSD-BARMM said Christhia Angela Aragoncillo who served as logistics management officer of the MSSD-Maguindanao Provincial Office was shot dead a few minutes after leaving the office on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.

Another worker was injured and is now recuperating in a medical facility.

“There is no space for such senseless killing in the Bangsamoro region. We condemn in the strongest terms this affront to workers in the field of social services,” MSSD said.

MSSD said it is working closely with authorities in the investigation.

“In the meantime, we urge the public to avoid the spread of unverified information and to be more discerning as show of respect to Thia’s family, loved ones, and friends in this hour of grief,” MSSD added.

The top official of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) has offered a P100,000 cash reward for anyone who can provide information that can lead to the identification and arrest of the suspects. 

PRO-BAR Director, Brigadier General Prexy Tanggawohn, has ordered the Maguindanao del Norte Police Provincial Office to conduct a thorough probe and intensive manhunt operation against the perpetrators.

“The PRO BAR extends our deepest condolences to the bereaved family of the victim. We stand in solidarity with the family of the victims throughout this difficult period,” PRO-BAR said.

“We also appeal to the public to join forces with the PNP and other government authorities in our pursuit to bring justice to the families of the victims. The cooperation and support of the community are valuable in solving this crime and ensure the safety of our society,” PRO-BAR added.
