A 39-year-old man died after he was assaulted by three individuals, one of whom was a minor, in San Jose, Batangas.

The incident was captured by Closed Circuit Television (CCTV).

The victim was headed home when he encountered the assailants who were riding an e-trike and a motorcycle.

Following a brief exchange, the victim was struck and fell to the ground, hitting his head on the pavement.

“Naitulak, tumama allegedly ‘yung victim natin sa cemented pavement nung lupa na 'yun, and nagkaroon ng another blow, sinuntok pa ng tatlong beses ng suspect natin ang victim,” PMAJ. Aldrin Atienza, Officer in Charge of the San Jose Police Station, said.

The victim was declared dead-on-arrival at the hospital.

Authorities reported that the altercation likely stemmed from a dispute during a drinking session.

A few hours after the incident, a 16-year-old suspect surrendered to the police, along with two of his companions.

One of the suspects said that the victim had threatened his brother-in-law’s life, which led to the altercation.

Nahingi ho [kami] ng pasensya, nandoon na eh,” he said.

The victim's father disputed their claim, saying his son would not engage in such behavior.

Yung kaso, tuloy namin yung kaso,” Jimmy Morphe, the victim’s father, said.

Morphe was thankful that the suspects were apprehended and surrendered to authorities.

The three suspects are, as of this writing, under custody at the San Jose Police Station, facing homicide charges.

Police advise residents to drink moderately and extend patience during drinking sessions.
