A policeman was shot dead while manning a checkpoint in Barangay Colonia, Lamitan City, Basilan.
The victim, Patrolman Khalid Sali Ahmad, was taking a picture of members of the 1st Basilan Provincial Mobile Force Company who were manning the checkpoint with him when the suspects approached the checkpoint on board a motorcycle.
Ahmad flagged the suspects down but the suspects reportedly refused to stop. Moments later, the man riding in pillion pulled a gun out and shot Ahmad in the head.
The victim did not reach the hospital alive.
Authorities are investigating the incident to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
